My name is Troy and I am doing creative writing as my major.
When I first heard about having to do a fan fiction story my thoughts didn't go to modern books or movies or television. Weirdly It went to fairy tales.
I had this strange idea of what the characters of fairy tales do when not acting out there story. See I like to think that when you read or are told a story and picture it in your imagination that it is like acting out a play in your head. So when they are not acting out there story what do they do. And thats when I had a thought. Set in a period of Victorian England you have all the different types of Evil Queens, (i.e. Snow White, Hansel and Gretel, Sleeping Beauty, Rapunzel ect) and have them all sitting down, drinking tea and comparing war stories about which on has the worst "happily ever after"So I will spend the next couple of days looking for fan fiction to do with this concept and hopefully have a first draft ready by next week.
That's an awesome concept. Sounds like it'll be interesting to read
ReplyDeleteSounds good to me. There's a great freedom, and kind of a naughty feeling somehow, in doing what you like with these 'iconic'(?) characters.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone really have 'ownership' of them though??
Certainly copyright laws are more recent, not that that stops the fans!
Good luck and I look forward to this - I think you can assume a certain background knowledge in the reader regarding these characters, rather than having to start from '0' as you would a 'new' character.
Sounds awesome. I really want to read this now. Seems like it could be quite humorous.
ReplyDeleteHi Troy
ReplyDeletethis is a great concept like "What does the Red Queen do on her day off?
Look forward to reading the final copy
Cheers
